High-pressure phases of SF6 up to 32GPa from X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy

چکیده
X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy were employed to study the phase diagram of SF6 at pressures up to 32GPa. The known phase transformation of SF6 phase I to phase II at around 2GPa was confirmed. Discontinuities in the pressure dependence of the Raman frequencies and positions of X-ray reflections indicate further phase transitions at 10(1) and 19(1)GPa. The crystal structures of phases I and II were determined using single crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of phase I corresponds to the “plastic” body-centred cubic low-temperature structure and the structure of phase II to the ordered monoclinic low-temperature structure. The bulk moduli of phase I and II were determined to be B0,I = 6.3(2)GPa with B ′ I = 4 (fixed) and B0,II = 8.5(8)GPa with B ′ II = 7.4(9), respectively. The linear compressibilities of phase II showed a slight anisotropy, which can be rationalised by consideration of the packing of the SF6 molecules.

Biotite is a common rock-forming mineral and accepts a variety of elements in its structure. The valuable information of crystallization conditions of the biotite mineral obtain on natural biotite composition. The biotite mineral is one of the main mineral phases of pelitic rocks which are formed in a wide range of geological conditions. In this research, microscopic mineralogy, Raman spectrosc...
متن کاملStudy of the reaction products of SF6 and C in the laser heated diamond anvil cell by pair distribution function analysis and micro-Raman spectroscopy
The decomposition of SF6 in the presence of glassy carbon was induced in laser heated diamond anvil cells at 10 to 11GPa and 2000 to 2500K. The reaction products were characterised by synchrotron X-ray diffraction, including high pressure pair distribution function analysis, and micro-Raman spectroscopy combined with atomistic model calculations. The decomposition leads to elemental amorphous h...

In situ high-pressure/low-temperature synchrotron x-ray diffraction and optical Raman spectroscopy were used to examine the structural properties, equation of state, and vibrational dynamics of ice VIII. The x-ray measurements show that the pressure-volume relations remain smooth up to 23 GPa at 80 K. Although there is no evidence for structural changes to at least 14 GPa, the unit-cell axial r...
متن کاملMelting and dissociation of ammonia at high pressure and high temperature.
Raman spectroscopy and synchrotron x-ray diffraction measurements of ammonia (NH(3)) in laser-heated diamond anvil cells, at pressures up to 60 GPa and temperatures up to 2500 K, reveal that the melting line exhibits a maximum near 37 GPa and intermolecular proton fluctuations substantially increase in the fluid with pressure. We find that NH(3) is chemically unstable at high pressures, partial...

The behavior of negative thermal-expansion material scandium molybdate Sc2sMoO4d3 is investigated at high pressure (HP) and high temperature (HT) using x-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The compound exhibits unusually high compressibility (bulk modulus ,6 GPa) and undergoes amorphization at 12 GPa. On the other hand, in situ laser heating of amorphous samp...
